Recently a pastor stood before his congregation and asked them, “How many Christian churches are there in the world?” Intrigued, individuals began shouting out their best guesses. After a couple of minutes, the pastor told his people, “I have the exact number. Do you want to know what it is?” He raised his index finger and said, “One!” He discussed how the body of Christ has many different parts, each having a value, a role and a purpose. The church is at its best when we work together in Jesus’ name.

Although there are many churches and denominations in the world today, each has an important role to play. And it’s a beautiful thing to see congregations working together to further the work of God. Healthy partnerships are critical in assuring how well wheelchairs are assembled and distributed. When enough money is raised from churches in the United States, a container of wheelchairs is shipped to a developing country. Local pastors receive the wheelchairs and, after identifying those in need, give them away in Jesus’ name. The recipients’ lives are changed, and the entire household finds support and relief. This gift opens the door to relationship. Families come to faith in Jesus and the love of God is put on display!
