Help for Haiti - Medical and Mobility Emergency Fund
Urgent Needs in Haiti and Worldwide - Help Now
A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti early on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Thousands have been killed with thousands more injured, along widespread devastation and damage.
Free Wheelchair Mission is responding by sending five containers, totaling more than 2,500 wheelchairs, to the hard-hit country. The first shipment will arrive in the coming weeks, with the remaining containers arriving over the following months.
Children and adults with disabilities are often the hardest hit when earthquakes and other natural disasters strike, especially during a worldwide pandemic. The impact to those without mobility living in developing countries is unimaginable. They lack the mobility to move away from danger or to seek out medical care and often have underlying health conditions that place them at great risk.
Family members, care providers, doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers in these areas urgently need wheelchairs, essential medical supplies, and mobility aids to care for these children and adults with disabilities. At times like these, they often are working tirelessly to save lives.
“Most of the medical supplies that came in the last container are being used during this COVID-19 emergency to protect the healthcare workers. We are very thankful to you!” – FUSAL, a distribution partner in El Salvador
