Preparing for a Vision Trip
Here are the things you need to know and prepare before your trip.
Visa & Passport Info
It is essential that you have a valid passport for this trip. Your passport must have an expiration date that is at least 6 months after your return date for your trip. In addition to a valid passport, some trips also require a Visa. It is the responsibility of the traveler to make sure they are in compliance with mandatory international travel documentation and any associated fees.

Travel Immunizations & Vaccinations
Depending on your trip destination, vaccinations may be suggested. Some countries require proof of immunization before you are allowed to enter their country. It is the responsibility of the traveler to make sure that they are in compliance with mandatory international travel immunizations and vaccinations. You should plan to see your doctor at least 6 weeks before your departure date in order for the shots to become effective.

Safety While Overseas
We recommend all travelers enroll in the free U.S. Government program Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (or S.T.E.P.), which enables better assistance to American citizens while you’re overseas in case of an emergency, as well as automatic travel warnings if they arise.
INTERNATIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE
While participating in a FWM mission trip, travelers are automatically covered under an umbrella travel policy with Travel Guard Chartis. The policy generally provides assistance with lost baggage, lost passport, trip cancellation, trip interruption, medical assistance, evacuation, repatriation, emergency medical and family travel. You will be provided with detailed information regarding your coverage at your pre-trip meetings as part of your Mission Trip Manual.
CELL PHONES WHILE ON A TRIP
Some travelers may be interested in traveling with a cell phone while on your trip. You will need to contact your current cell phone provider to see what options are available, or you may choose to rent a temporary phone from ProTravel.
PACKING LIST
Please pack clothing that will respect the culture you are visiting, the recipients you are serving, and our mission. You will be provided with a more detailed suggested packing list at your pre-trip meeting. Please keep in mind that most airlines only allow one suitcase (max 50 lbs.) plus your hand or carry-on luggage.
