Ramesh’s story is a powerful reminder that the gift of a wheelchair can transform not just one life, but an entire family’s.
Ramesh (40, India) worked as a construction worker to support his family—until a devastating fall six years ago left him with a spinal cord injury, unable to walk.
Since then, he has been largely confined to his bed, reliant on others to help him move or do daily tasks. His two children would come home from school during lunch breaks to check on him, and his wife—now the family’s sole provider—would provide care for him once she got home from a long day at work.
Seeing the sacrifices his wife and kids were making, Ramesh longed for the freedom mobility would provide—not just for himself, but for his family, too. But on their meager income, a wheelchair was out of reach.
Thankfully, Ramesh received a brand-new wheelchair through our local distribution partner, India Christian Ministries.

Now, after six long years, Ramesh can move around his home on his own. With this newfound mobility comes a renewed sense of confidence and independence.
But the greatest change isn’t just for him. His wife no longer carries the constant worry about his safety when she isn’t home, and their kids can spend their lunch breaks at school, with friends.
Together, this family faces the future with greater hope, thanks to the generosity of friends like you.
