Free Wheelchair Mission in India
October 2019
Our director of programs, Vanessa Mendoza (above, right) traveled to India to audit two distribution partners and visit with a prospective new partner. In addition, our marketing manager gathered stories of lives transformed by the gift of a wheelchair.

One Mile for Mobility
October 2nd
Essendant, a national company based in Chicago, hosted their 6th Annual “One Mile for Mobility” walk, raising $5,000 to provide wheelchairs. This event was led by longtime ambassador, Georgeann Ratko, and Christine Clark.

Above & Beyond
October 5th
The Angel Light Academy honored Free Wheelchair Mission with an “Above & Beyond” award, given in recognition of organizations, institutions, and corporations that have “proven excellence in community leadership and service.” Watch a video from the gala here.

Seattle’s Miracle of Mobility
October 12th
This annual event raised enough funds to provide 1,197 wheelchairs – and because this gift was matched during October’s x2 Gift Challenge, this number was doubled to 2,394 wheelchairs!

Coaching and Training Our Partners
October 15th – 25th
Our medical programs team coached distribution partners in Vietnam (pictured) and offered remote training to partners serving other regions around the world.

FWM at Women’s Night Out
October 17th
Along with local radio station, KFSH, Calvary Chapel East Anaheim hosted over 1,500 women (and men) for Women’s Night Out, featuring artist Matthew West. Our staff and ambassadors were able to connect with new people as well as some faithful, longtime supporters.

Abilities Expo San Mateo
October 25th – 27th
Mobility pioneer and MacArthur Award-winner Ralf Hotchkiss (above, left) was among those who visited the FWM booth at the Abilities Expo San Mateo.

You Doubled Your Impact
October 31st
Because of your generosity, we surpassed our goal of raising funds for 17,000 wheelchairs—preliminary numbers show that 20,647 wheelchairs were donated! A huge thank-you to everyone who took the x2 Gift Challenge, and to our generous donors who matched every gift, dollar for dollar.
