Greetings, and happy Friday!
Wu is a 52-year-old man who lives in northwestern China. You might see him making his way through the dusty streets of his little town on a three-wheeled motorcycle, which was given to him by a friend to use as a mobility device.
An accident cost Wu the ability to walk when he was 30 years old. Every morning, he would take his three-wheeler on a 40-minute ride to the vegetable store where he works as an assistant.
Although the motorcycle helps him get to and from work, he obviously cannot use it inside his house. He would have to crawl once he got home, with no one else around to help him, as Wu is divorced and lives by himself.
Our distribution partner in Xinjiang fitted Wu with a GEN_3, a wheelchair that folds for ease of storage or transport on the back of his motorcycle. Now, Wu can be mobile at home and at work as well as on the streets.
When Wu heard that the wheelchair was a free gift from overseas, he was overcome with emotion. “I can’t believe that there are people in the world who care about us and our disabilities. They must be very kind, with loving hearts.”
He’s talking about you.
It’s your kindness and care that make a direct impact on people like Wu. Thank you for your heart of compassion.
Blessings,
Don Schoendorfer
PS: Our annual gala, Miracle of Mobility, is less than two weeks away. It’ll be a celebration of one million lives transformed through the gift of mobility, and you’ll have a chance to personally meet several wheelchair recipients from around the world. It’s not too late to buy tickets.
