Seventeen-year-old Jane in Kenya lives in a quiet, rural village with her parents and two sisters. Their home is a traditional hut, and her parents are small-scale farmers who raise livestock to provide milk for the family.

Jane was born with spina bifida, a condition that affects her ability to walk. Without a wheelchair, everyday life was a struggle. Her sisters lovingly carried her wherever she needed to go—whether to school, outside to play, or simply to the local market.

For years, Jane dreamed of having a wheelchair. In their remote village, it felt impossible. Mobility was one of her greatest challenges. And yet, she never gave up hope.

Then one day, everything changed.

Because of generous friends like you, Jane received her very first wheelchair.

Her face lit up with joy as she sat in it for the first time. “Now I can go to the market and make friends!” she said, beaming.

With her new wheelchair, Jane can help her parents around the farm. She can leave her bed and explore. Her posture has improved and so has her confidence.

Jane now enjoys doing beadwork while sitting comfortably, and she dreams of joining a vocational program where she can learn a trade and earn a living.

Thanks to the transforming gift of mobility, Jane’s world has expanded in ways she never imagined. She is gaining renewed independence, discovering new passions, and looking toward the future with hope and joy.

Your generosity made this possible. Thank you for being part of Jane’s journey.

With gratitude,
