March was another exciting month at Free Wheelchair Mission. Highlights include:

  • The arrival of 3,640 wheelchairs at their destination countries.
  • The “Mission to 1 Million” continues–the total number of units shipped to date currently stands at 981,314.
  • The third-grade class at St. Joachim School in Costa Mesa, California raised $5,034 by creating and executing their own business plans, giving the gift of mobility to 63 individuals.
  • We launched 30 days of prayer, leading up to Easter, here on our blog as well as on social media.

And, in Vietnam, our programs team led training sessions for our local sub-distribution partners. Each session was five days long and covered topics including disability, wheelchair fit, user training, and wheelchair assembly.

By the end of the week, students were more confident in their ability to assess wheelchair applicants’ needs, take measurements for proper fit, and make decisions on whether or not to prescribe a wheelchair to an applicant. They attended a graduation ceremony upon completing the course and passing both a practical and a written exam.

This type of training is part of Free Wheelchair Mission’s commitment to providing quality mobility solutions. Our desire is that every person who receives a wheelchair truly needs one, could benefit from one of our models, and receives one that is fitted properly, thereby reducing the risk of them developing further complications.

These are just a few of the highlights from March. What does April have in store? I look forward to finding out and sharing more stories with you.

Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Blessings,

Don Schoendorfer
