Eshetu, a 42-year-old husband, father, and former teacher, spent two decades shaping young minds in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He was known for his dedication to education and his love for his students. But five years ago, a tumor at the base of his neck turned his world upside down. Complications from surgery left him with paralysis, confined to his bed and unable to leave his home.
His wife, Zewditu, became both caregiver and provider, working long hours as a cleaner while also tending to Eshetu’s physical and emotional needs. Some days could be more challenging than others, but she faced each one with compassion and persistence.

With mobility restored, Eshetu now has the freedom to go outside and reconnect with his community. He’s also working toward his dream of returning to the classroom and resuming the profession he has long cherished.
