Babita has long had the determination to build a future of her own.

Growing up in the plains of southern Nepal, she lived with her parents, who run a small grocery shop. After a severe fever at the age of two and a half affected her ability to move her lower limbs, Babita learned to navigate daily life with the steady support of her family.

With their encouragement, she continued her education through grade 10. She was motivated, capable, and eager to contribute.

But without a wheelchair, everyday life came with barriers. Moving from place to place was difficult, and the path toward work, income, and greater independence was much harder to reach.

Babita had the drive. She had the talent. What she needed was mobility.

Then, through the generosity of donors like you, Babita received a new wheelchair from our local distribution partner, NASPIR.

With mobility, Babita could move more freely, carry out her work, and use the practical skills she had worked so hard to develop. Determined to build a future of her own, she had enrolled in a vocational training program, where she spent four and a half months learning sewing and tailoring. With focus and dedication, she became skilled at creating custom garments for people in her community.

Today, Babita runs her own sewing and tailoring business from home. She makes a living creating garments for her community, building a future marked by renewed dignity, independence, freedom, and joy.

“I never thought I could do this on my own, but now I am proud of what I’ve achieved,” Babita said. “The wheelchair has given me the freedom to work, to dream, and to live on my terms.”
