Celebrating 20 Years of Transforming Lives

On April 20, 2021, Free Wheelchair Mission celebrated our 20th anniversary!

It’s hard to believe that more than 20 years have passed since I was first building prototype wheelchairs in my garage. By God’s grace, and with the prayers and support of friends like you, we have since given away more than 1.2 million wheelchairs in 94 developing countries, impacting millions of individuals and their families.

We couldn’t have done this without you.

For a recap of our first 20 years, watch this three-minute video titled Together We Can Go Farther: 20 Years of Transforming Lives.

As far as we have come, our work is far from over.

Worldwide, the World Health Organization estimates that there are still 75 million people around the world who need a wheelchair, the vast majority of whom cannot get one on their own.

Together, we can continue to meet these needs.

We look ahead to the future of this mission while reflecting back on our first 20 years. On April 20th, Board Chair Stuart Rattray, CEO Nuka Solomon, and I shared our thoughts in a one-hour webinar hosted by Bob Shank.

In case you missed it, you can watch the webinar here.

Free Wheelchair Mission is not just our organization. It is not just our staff. It is all of us, together, doing our part to transform lives in developing countries.

Happy anniversary, and thank you for all that you do, together, for mobility.

Blessings,
