Edward A. Tarle was appointed Vice President, Tax of Edwards Lifesciences Corporation (“Edwards”) when Edwards was spun-off from Baxter International Inc. and began operating as an independent publicly traded company in April 2000. Edwards Lifesciences, based in Irvine, California, is the global leader in patient-focused medical innovations for structural heart disease, as well as critical care and surgical monitoring. Driven by a passion to help patients, the company collaborates with the world’s leading clinicians and researchers to address unmet healthcare needs, working to improve patient outcomes and enhance lives.
Prior to joining Edwards, Ed was Director, International Taxes for Baxter International Inc., in Deerfield, IL from 1999 to 2000 and held several tax management positions of increasing responsibility with Rockwell International Corporation from 1986 to 1999 in Pittsburgh, PA, London, England, and Costa Mesa, CA. Prior to Rockwell, he was a Tax Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP from 1979 to 1986 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Ed has extensive experience, particularly, in the medical device industry – in corporate tax, management, and tax policy/government affairs. Ed serves as an officer of the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation and has been a leader in the company’s corporate philanthropic efforts since 2004. He also serves on the board of directors of the Edwards Lifesciences Political Action Committee (EWPAC) as well as Special Olympics of Southern California.
Ed received his BS, Accounting from the Pennsylvania State University in 1979 and is a Certified Public Accountant (Pennsylvania). His memberships include: the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Tax Executives Institute and the International Fiscal Association.
