2024 AARP Purpose Prize Winner and Inspire Award Nominee

Vote for Don Schoendorfer by 10/18 and help provide 100+ wheelchairs

The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) has announced that Free Wheelchair Mission President & Founder Don Schoendorfer is one of five winners of the 2024 Purpose Prize and a nominee for the Inspire Award.

The Purpose Prize honors people ages 50 and older who use their life experiences to help make a difference in the world through nonprofit work. “When we find our sense of purpose—that certain something that gives us a reason to get up and get going every day—we not only give meaning to our own lives,” stated AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins, “we make the world a better place for everyone.”

As a Purpose Prize winner, Don won a prize of $50,000 for Free Wheelchair Mission—providing mobility to more than 500 people. Free Wheelchair Mission is a humanitarian, faith-based organization based in Irvine, California, that has provided nearly 1.4 million wheelchairs in 94 countries since 2001.

Today, an estimated 80 million people need wheelchairs but most of them have no access to one.

But you can help win another $10,000 and provide another 100+ new wheelchairs by voting for Don to win the AARP Inspire Award.

Cast your vote for Don before the October 18 deadline!

Voting is free and you do not have to be an AARP member, although you will need to create a free online account and verify your email address and phone number.

The AARP is a nationally known organization that supports people over the age of 50 and has about 40 million members who receive their magazine and bulletins.
