Athalia grew up in a remote African village. Born without arms or legs, Athalia was bed-bound, and the only interaction she had was with her mother and sister. She was able to move about only when carried.

One of the amazing things about Athalia was her strength of spirit. Even though her exposure to the outside world was minimal, she dreamed of traveling and going to school. Athalia wanted to learn to read and write more than anything and to have the opportunity to make her way in the world.

At the age of 19, Athalia received a wheelchair. It gave her wings. She was finally able to attend school. She has learned how to read and write and recently traveled to California. Through the gift of mobility, Athalia Mashile now has a way to share her heart and vibrant spirit with the world. In your prayers today, please remember those who have experienced the gift of mobility, that they might go forth, engage the world, and rise up to the opportunities and challenges before them, experiencing and sharing the grace of God’s love.

Prayer Points:

  • That those re-learning to live life with a wheelchair would not fear but have courage to do new things.
  • That new opportunities would come their way in abundance as a result of their mobility.
  • That Athalia and her family would be blessed.
