The Philp Family Team is excited about transforming lives with Free Wheelchair Mission. It all started about 4 years ago when Lori and Steven learned about FWM through the Barnabas Group, a group of Christian business leaders who gather to help new organizations and ministries grow by contributing their time, talents and resources. After learning about FWM, it wasn’t long before Steve and Lori went on distribution trips to Mexico and Peru to see first hand the difference a wheelchair can make in the lives of those in need. For Lori, the biggest impact of distributing wheelchairs firsthand was seeing how much the chairs change the lives of the recipients and their families. People are able to get outside for the first time. They can finally see the sun!

For the Run for Mobility 2008, the Philp Family has set a goal to raise $3,000 to lift 62 people off the ground. They are well on their way with $1300 raised already! They will all be participating in the half marathon together at Surf City. Lori and her daughter Pamela, a senior at Biola University, have been training to walk/run the half marathon for the past few months. Training has been “fun mother daughter time” according to Lori. She admits that her husband, Steven, is more of a runner than she or Pamela and might show them up on Race Day.
When asked what advice she has for fellow fundraisers, she replies, “Think out side the box for who you ask to donate. Don’t just think about your relatives and neighbors. Think about the gal who does your hair or the guy behind the register at the grocery store. One time, we even got our dentist and his whole office involved in a fundraising effort!” VISIT THE PHILP FAMILY TEAM PAGE
