This story comes from our friend Scaria in South India:
"Ablish and Agesh started their journey from home
in a pick up van to the Free Wheelchair Mission camp named "The
Light of the Life” organized by the Assumption Community College
in association with the local Charitable Trust Chrysalis. It
was their very first trip outside their village. Their father
Chandran who is a poor laborer accompanied them. Ablish and Agesh
are Chandran's oldest sons. They were born with physical and
mental disabilities. His third son is normal. Chandran told us,
'Sir I fell very sad. I was very unkind to these two sons for
the last 16 years. I kept them confined to a dark room in my
home. I felt that I have to keep it as a secret for the better
life prospects of my third son. When volunteers of local school
for mentally challenged visited my home, I drove them out of
my home. Now I understand that I was wrong. The volunteers later
educated me. Now my two sons are happy. They behave very well
to others. Our fellow villagers help me in caring for them. My
ignorance forced me to act cruelly to my children. I pray that
they forgive me. Thank you all for providing the chairs to us.
Convey our happiness to the people in USA who gave us these good
quality wheelchairs.' "
