Greetings and Happy Friday!

May 20, 2005

Here highlights of the past week:

  • A container arrived at Hebei Woman’s Federation in time for an annual event in China called "Helping the Disabled Day" on May 26.
  • Tonight we receive the Spirit Award from the Orange County Salvation Army!

Announcement: We are trying to get some federal funding, and we are making progress. If you live in Orange County, you could be a huge help by writing our US Representative Cox a letter. Send an email to us and we will give you the details. Your letter could help provide thousands of wheelchairs!

This story comes from our friend Scaria in Kochi, India: Baiju and Daiju

Baiju and Daiju are twin brothers, the only two children of Joseph & Annamma. As children they were very healthy and both studied up to 7th grade. At the age of 12 both showed difficulty in walking and within a short period their whole bodies became weak. The parents took them to various hospitals for treatment and doctors found that there is no treatment for their disease. Added to their problem, mother was diagnosed as a thyroid patient and father was having kidney problems. This poor family found it hard to pay for the expenses. Generous people in their village helped pay for their medical treatments.

Annamma said: "God knows that I have the ability to take care of two physically challenged sons. Taking care of normal children is easy, but that of physically challenged is very difficult. I believe that God knows my abilities in full and that is why He gave me my two children. I love them and I love the great human beings in US.A who gave us two wheelchairs. I feel that God heard our prayers and those people in USA are the People of God.”

When she said this, tears started rolling down from her eyes. I said 'Mother, please don't be sad.' She said: "I am not sad. I used to pray to Jesus Christ and the Lord heard my prayer. He gave not one chair, but He gave me two chairs. I am happy and thankful to The Lord Jesus Christ. Two children are His gift and I take care of them very well."
