Here highlights of the past week:

  • Four containers arrived in Lima, Peru; and one in Costa Rica.
  • We received a grant for $200,000, of which $150,000 is restricted fro salary and infrastructure support! The foundation of this fantastic gift wishes to remain anonymous.

This story comes from Steve Bray.
Employees of his company PowerPlus raised the funds for a container of wheelchairs that went to south India. Steve also held a raffle, and the winning employee got to go with Steve to help distribute these wheelchairs. Steve Bray with grateful husband and wife

Whereas we here in the USA never see people crawling, in developing countries it is a common sight. During wheelchair distribution ceremonies, recipients often must crawl to receive their wheelchairs. Steve was at such a ceremony when he met this amazing couple. The husband cannot walk, and his wife is blind. She wanted to show their appreciation for receiving a wheelchair by singing a song. Steve tells me that it ripped his heart out to see the two of them get up on the stage. Her husband crawled as he led the way. She held on to the back of his collar. He kneeled beside her as she sang the most beautiful song, and then he crawled off the stage with his wife trailing behind.

After the ceremony, Steve said he saw them leaving. The husband gave his wife verbal directions as she pushed him down the road home. They were so happy.
