Here
are highlights of the week:
- A container arrived in Kampala, Uganda
- A container arrived in Puerto Montt, Chile.
This story comes from Ines Franklin who
was part of our mission team that just returned from Peru.

The team gave Gared a wheelchair during a distribution ceremony in
Cusco. Two days later the team traveled 5 hours my train, deep into the
Andes to visit Machupicchu. Somehow Gared found out that the team would
visit this magnificent ancient sight. Ines writes: "When we arrived
in Machupicchu, we were surprised to find him at the train station waiting
for us with a great big smile and
a water color picture that he painted for "his friend Jim." He
lives in Machupicchu and had been waiting for hours
examining every person that got off the trains. I can't believe
he made it from
Machupicchu to Cusco to receive his wheelchair. You know how long
of a trip that
is!
I translated this letter he gave Jim, our mission leader:
"It
is, for a person like me, a tremendous joy to be able to write
and send my affectionate greeting for all the good people
that are working in favor of those of us who are in great need.
You are a divine light. Thank you for remembering those who
suffer more.
Thanks to Camino de Vida and Free Wheelchair Mission. Thanks
for illuminating for us, with joy, all our hearts which now feel happy.
Now, we no longer feel forgotten in four walls, like prisoners
jailed in a cell.
I am called Gared. Since around twelve years old I have been
badly suffering of an illness which has led me to needing a wheelchair.
All of the sudden, my
feet began to hurt and I could no longer move my legs well. Wounds appeared
from which I lost blood. I was crying every day.
It was then that I began to draw. Do you know which was the
first drawing that I made? It was the image of Jesus Christ.
From then
on I support myself with
the grace only by my paintings. Thanks for everything"
