Adam in his "dream" wheelchairLast month we were in India on a mission trip. We were driving north about an hour from Vizag and stopped to bless a very poor family at a wedding in a very small village. The plan was for a very brief stop there, as we needed to drive another two hours to a ceremony in another village to distribute 400 wheelchairs. Well, God had another plan for us, as the truck got a flat. It turned out that there were 10 people at the wedding who came there, knowing we might be there and hoping to get a wheelchair. Now we had time to talk to them.

We asked each one if they ever thought they would receive a wheelchair. Oddly enough, Adam said “yes”, then Aparo said “yes”, and next in line, Propanado also said “yes”. We thought our interpreter was making a mistake, as we did not anticipate these answers. So we went back to ask why. Each said they knew they would get a wheelchair because they had been faithfully praying for one. Propanado had been praying for his for 15 years.

One definition of faith is believing in something that cannot be seen. These three had no way to see how they would ever get a wheelchair. They were extremely happy, but they were not surprised. We were, and we remain moved by their faith!
