Mr Joseph and his wife after the tsunami

"Mr. Joseph is a school teacher in the island nation of Mali. The powerful tsunami wave torn off his leg and right hand.

Joseph told me this story:

Sunday is a working day in Mali. On 26th at 8:00 AM I was at the school. I heard a loud notice and some people were shouting that sea is coming to land. I thought of my wife who was alone. Our home is just 50 meters from school. I started running. I reached the junction, but I saw big waves coming forward. I turned back and ran to the school. The waves came at unbelievable speed and slashed at the school building. The compound wall collapsed and fell on my body. Soon I was pulled over the rocks and congregate heaps created of waves. I got hold of a big root of a tree and stayed clinging to it for three hours in the fury of the water, desperately calling for help. People where running for their lives. No one heard my voice. As Joseph was narrating this, I saw the gush of tears from his eyes. Whatever he made in his life is gone. He got back his life and that of his family members. In this desperate situation - Joseph feels happy about wheelchair we gave him. Let this wheelchair give hope and life to Mr. Joseph & family. Please pray for them."
