Greetings and Happy Friday!

January 21, 2005

Here are some highlights of the week:

  • We are moving into our first office!  It will be tough for us staff to give up working in our pajamas at home, but we all long to be under one roof.  Our local supporters are donating used furniture for our office.  If you have anything, let us know.  The office has a warehouse area where our volunteers can come to help us.
  • A container arrived in Mombassa which will now go to the Presbyterian Church of East Africa.
  • We will be sending by mail a brochure to highlight our campaign to raise funds for 5 containers to send to Sri Lanka and South India tsunami victims. Our partners in these countries are waiting for us.  Please help us reach this goal "When God's children are in need, you be the one to help them out.” (Romans 12:13, NLT)
This story comes from Andy Mayo of Cure International in Kenya:

"I want to report on a trip to Machakos Kenya where we presented 50 wheelchairs. For me personally the trip was staggering. There was one young man there who is 24 and had spent his entire life crawling from house to house - begging. For the first time ever he will now be able to get around. There were a number of severely disabled individuals who were in great need - the pictures will make you cry. took along our maintenance team from the hospital. They never get a chance to actually experience a clinic or see patients other than those at the hospital. The team put together chairs in an assembly line fashion and trained young men at the site as well. Then they were part of the presentation at the end. We arrived about 8:30 in the morning and there were already individuals there waiting for us. They kept steadily arriving all morning, waiting patiently for the presentation that finally came at around 2:00.

For a maintenance guy who never gets out of the small town of Kijabe, this was a real treat to be a "hero".  We had 50 very happy families that day.

Thanks again for your great and wonderful gift. You have truly made a difference in the lives of some people that have almost nothing in this world. "

Blessings, Andy
