December 19, 2004 - This is an email from Alexandra's parents at the end
of 2004. SHE DID IT!!!
Don, John & Margaret,
Alexandra's remaining funds from her pink box were delivered to
the FWM table at church today. She has now met her commitment of at least one
chair a month for 2004.
You have each personally enriched her life this year. We are grateful for FWM
and that Alexandra was able to achieve her goal.
We pray for God's blessings as she saves for chairs for 2005!

July 28, 2004 - Here is a letter written by Alexandra's mother after the Summer
Fund Raiser Event on July 27, 2004.
Barry, Susan & Margaret,
Alexandra and I are still talking about last
night and what God has done in our lives. Who would have thought what
her wanting to approach the FWM stand at Mariners and make
that first contribution in December would have started?
We have spoken at length this week about my illness
because I am so seriously ill. Alexandra has asked me if "I ever wish God hadn't made
me ill" and "how our lives are better because I am sick". Her questions
are particularly difficult because just when we had hoped to celebrate
the success of the stimulator device, which is providing some relief,
the disease has relapsed in my right arm and leg and spread to my left
leg. I am delirious with pain and the sense that firecrackers are
exploding in my body. And so we talk - we talk about what God has done
for the positive.
Alexandra will tell you the "things that are better" (her words) are
that she is doing wheelchairs, we get to spend more time together, she
loves church, we have new friends like Barry and Margaret, and her dog
gets to go to Big Bear (this is a big deal because her beloved dog
Kristi always had to stay at home before I became ill).
And now she had something new to add to her list
- "she met
a king who told her to keep up her work, young lady."
Last night was a night we will never forget. Thank you for your
generous invitation. And thank you for including Alexandra in your
ministry. It is important to our family for so many reasons.
March 5, 2004 ....... P. S. Alexandra's story goes on ....
.....Alexandra brought in a second contribution in February of $43.00!!! In pennies and quarters.
Last weekend she brought her February wheelchair contribution and had a chance to hand it over directly to our founder, Don Schoendorfer, who told her that someone had seen her story and was willing to match her donation every month, which thrilled her. Her mother later wrote to say that she'd already starting saving for her March donation.
February 16, 2004 - We have a story of the deeds of a seven-year old child and her
heart for our ministry.
Last December a young mother and lovely little girl, Alexandra, stepped up
to the table we were manning at our church. Alexandra wanted to donate a
wheelchair in her father's name. Her mom had a look of awestruck amazement
and more than one of us at the booth teared up when witnessing this act of
generosity.
A few weeks ago we learned that Alexandra had more money for us, enough for
two more wheelchairs. We arranged to meet one evening with Mom, Dad, and
Alexandra. She carried a heavy, little, pink case, customized to say "Care
for Each Other." Alexandra tapped any stashes of coins around the house,
and used her personal savings and any other resources at her disposal. We
gave her a baseball cap with our name. She immediately put on our hat.
She told us she was going to wear it so that other children would ask her
about what the hat said and she could maybe get them to donate.
At the age of seven this amazing little girl has set a goal to give enough
for one wheelchair per month. We are blessed to see the impact our mission
had on this family - seeing their child carry forth their values, and to
experience the blessing of this child's heart for others. We hope to
continue to add new chapters to Alexandra's story.
